Buildings Can Be Much Greener

“Buildings Can Be Much Greener”, a recent article discussing the potential for zero net energy (ZNE) buildings, starts on p. 6 of April’s California Buildings News. Only a tiny fraction of California buildings produce all the energy they need to operate, though some have proven they can and attempts by others to attain zero net energy status are growing, because of both governmental, market and cultural pressures. Work is well under way at the state level. NBI reports, “California state agencies have adopted goals for 100 % of new and 50% of existing commercial buildings to be ZNE by 2030”.
