Efficient and Healthy Schools Campaign Webinar Series Track 1: Energy Efficiency Plus Health
Participating schools and districts will complete a 3-part webinar series (Jan-Mar 2023) to learn about assessment tools and get assistance in planning activities. Schools must complete a final plan describing how topics covered in the webinars inform decisions to improve their school facilities. School district staff are allowed to sign up at any point in the process! If you've missed the any webinars, that is okay, recordings can be watched in place of attendance. This webinar series is for schools and school district staff only.
Attendance or viewing of all webinars and their corresponding surveys are required to receive recognition. If you are unable to make the scheduled times of the webinars, watching the recording afterwards and filling out the survey still counts as attendance credit. We recommend attending live, however, to be able to participate in discussion and ask your questions real time.
January 10th, Making the Case to Save Energy and Improve Indoor Environmental Quality in Schools
Saving energy in school buildings means saving time, money, and resources that can be used for building improvements and other upgrades that enhance the learning environment. Equally as important, improving indoor environmental quality (IEQ) in schools means increasing the productivity, health, and well-being of the occupants. This webinar will discuss the process and help participants identify opportunities to advance energy efficiency and IEQ in schools. Join Berkeley Lab and New Buildings Institute to how school districts can find ways to save energy, money and contribute to overall healthier school buildings.

February 14th, Understanding Your Building Stock: Energy Benchmarking and Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) Assessments for Schools
School districts are strapped for cash, time, and staff energy and may not be aware of how their buildings’ energy and indoor environmental quality (IEQ) change over time. However, when planning for energy retrofits and facilities improvements, it is important to establish your building stock and set a baseline in order to understand your current use and track progress over time. This webinar will discuss utilizing energy benchmarking and IEQ assessments to set a baseline and provide insight into building performance across a portfolio. Participants will walk through how to collect the relevant data, the tools to analyze and assess, how to use this data to set measurable goals and make a plan to continually make improvements over time.

March 14th, Building Assessment Tools for School Energy Retrofits
K-12 school buildings spend more on energy than on computers and textbooks combined, and as much as one third of this energy is often wasted due to poorly functioning equipment, poor insulation, and outdated technology. However, analysis of your utility billing data and assessment of your building assets can help you save energy and money. This webinar discusses ways that school districts can use tools such as BETTER and other assessment tools to identify cost-saving energy efficiency measures in buildings. Join Berkeley Lab and others to discuss best practices for school districts to save energy, money and contribute to overall healthier school buildings.
