Time:

1:00 pm - 2:30 pm America/New_York

Learn how high efficiency HVAC paired with dedicated outside air systems can decarbonize, increase energy efficency, and improve indoor air quality.

Very High Efficiency (VHE) HVAC systems with Dedicated Outside Air Systems (DOAS) combine high-performance equipment with smart design principles. In addition to significant energy savings, replacing existing systems with VHE DOAS systems can also increase occupant comfort and building operator satisfaction.

In this manufacturers roundtable, we’ll discuss the challenges and opportunities related to the adoption of VHE DOAS systems as it relates to design, engineering, procurement, and installation.

Panelists:

Earl Allen, Product Manager, Trane
Earl is a Product Manager at Trane focused on dedicated outdoor air systems and the evolving needs of the HVAC market. He brings a mix of engineering and business perspective to conversations about product strategy, customer needs, and how systems are positioned in real applications. By working across teams he connects technical understanding, market needs, and product direction. Earl is also a licensed Professional Engineer.

Eric Kozubal HeadshotEric Kozubal, Senior Mechanical Engineer and Researcher, National Laboratory of the Rockies
Eric researches innovative HVAC&R technologies including solid and liquid desiccant dehumidification, thermal energy storage, and heat pumps. He specializes in applying these technologies to dedicated outdoor air systems (DOAS) and holds more than ten licensed patents in the field. His innovations have led to the founding of three startup companies commercializing liquid desiccant DOAS technology. These liquid desiccant systems dehumidify at higher efficiency than conventional DX-based DOAS, with one company using the concentrated desiccant itself as an energy storage medium, achieving 2X greater storage density than ice. His current work focuses on researching dual-fuel DOAS heating and cooling cycles that offer higher efficiency, integrated thermal storage, and compatibility with A2L and A3 refrigerants.

James Dean, CEO, Oxygen8
James has a passion for Green Buildings and Innovation. As the current CEO of Oxygen8 and former CEO of CORE Energy Recovery Solutions he leads talented teams to develop and supply ventilation and energy recovery technology that improve the energy efficiency, indoor air quality and comfort of commercial and residential buildings. James was a former Partner with KPMG Consulting, former CEO of Greenlight Power, former CEO of CORE and was recognized as one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40.
