San Jose, CA — October 22, 2025 — The Pipe Trades Training Center, UA Local 393, in partnership with the Advanced Water Heating Initiative (AWHI) and Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) Energy Centers, is proud to host a full-day Heat Pump Water Heater (HPWH) Installer Training Day. This first-of-its-kind event will combine in-person hands-on instruction in San Jose with alivestream option, bringing advanced HPWH training to contractors, apprentices, and plumbing professionals across the country.

Event Information
Designed specifically for the trades, this training will provide comprehensive coverage of HPWH systems, including:
- Installation best practices
- System design and integration
- Recirculation pumps and drain water heat recovery
- Combination water and space heating systems
- Skid-mounted central HPWH systems

Pipe Trades Training Center
The Pipe Trades Training Center is a state-of-the-art training facility that supports UA Local 393 members in San Jose, CA. Spanning 102,000 square feet, the Center offers four accredited apprenticeship opportunities in Plumbing, Steamfitting, HVACR, and Residential Plumbing. With more than 50 highly credentialed instructors and partnerships with dozens of signatory contractors, the Training Center provides unmatched hands-on and classroom training to apprentices and journeypersons alike.

The Advanced Water Heating Initiative (AWHI) is a national collaborative effort dedicated to advancing heat pump water heater technology as a critical solution for decarbonizing buildings, improving energy efficiency, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
