Nancy Jenkins began serving as deputy director of Sustainability for DGS in July 2016. Previously she managed the Demand Side Management (DSM) Strategy and Compliance group at Southern California Edison Company (SCE). There she was responsible for leading a department in developing and implementing the overall strategy for SCE’s energy efficiency, demand response, and customer solar program portfolio. Specific areas of focus included planning and policy for both the current and future DSM portfolios as well as oversight of all compliance and reporting to the CPUC. Additional areas of focus included integrating DSM to meet cost, grid reliability, and carbon emission reduction goals. Prior to this, Nancy oversaw energy efficiency and climate action planning initiatives with local governments and institutions.

Before working with SCE, Nancy supported public policy at the California Energy Commission (CEC). At the CEC she developed energy codes and managed research to develop new innovative technologies in Renewables. Most notably, Nancy developed and managed the first Public Interest Research program for DSM at the CEC and helped to lead the program to national prominence.

Nancy has also provided consulting services in the private sector in the areas of structural and energy design and plan checking, as well as program evaluation and reporting. She has a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and is a registered CA engineer.
