Jim Edelson, Senior Project Manager
As an energy code specialist Jim has worked both as consultant and staff at New Buildings Institute since 2002. His tasks included managing national effort for local, state and federal improvements in commercial building energy efficiency standards. He also managed the first national review cycle and publication of Benchmark, an advanced energy design and performance guideline. Jim has also served as a member of the Oregon Commercial Energy Advisory Committee, 2009; as a member of the ASHRAE Advanced Energy Design Guide SPC 102, in 2004 and a member of the Wisconsin Department of Commerce Building Energy/HVAC Code Committee, from 1993-1998.
From 1995-2009 Jim worked as a climate and energy policy specialist focusing on policy development and serving as a public interest advocate. In Oregon Jim has served as a member of the Carbon Allocation Task Force, the Governor’s Energy Efficiency Workgroup, Transportation Committee of the Global Warming Commission, consultant to the Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon and served on the Advisory Council of Oregon Interfaith Power and Light. In Wisconsin: Department of Natural Resources Climate Change Task Force; consultant to Clean Wisconsin on environmental, deregulation, and energy efficiency issues; public interest representation in interventions before the Oregon Public Utility Commission and the Wisconsin Public Service Commission.
He holds a Bachelors Degree in Natural Resources and a Masters Degree in Business Adminstration, from the University of Michigan.
