Heather Flint Chatto, Project Manager
Heather Flint Chatto is a Project Manager with New Buildings Institute. She is supporting NBI’s work with the California Public Utility Commission (CPUC) Zero-Net-Energy Action Plan for Commercial Buildings and communication of measured performance findings from NBI research. Heather manages multiple Champion teams engaged in technical, market and policy recommendations and implementation of the CPUC Action Plan. She is experienced in architectural design, environmental policy and long-range planning. Prior to joining NBI, she worked with Habitats, Inc., an environmental design/build firm as a project manager on green building projects including the Eugene Stormwater Demonstration Home and SeQuential Biofuels fueling station. While with the Santa Barbara County Planning & Development Department she helped implement a master redevelopment plan for a 600–acre project area including management of multiple redevelopment projects and the community process to develop, write and adopt architecture and design guidelines for public and private improvements. Heather is an experienced technical writer and is able to synthesize difficult concepts into clear and concise formats. She is experienced with public engagement techniques and has facilitated advisory groups, community outreach efforts and a variety of team processes. Heather has a Masters in Urban Planning, a Bachelor degree in Environmental Studies for Educators, and is a certified urban designer.
