Barb Hamilton, Lighting Manager

Barb Hamilton is the Lighting Manager at New Buildings Institute.  Barb has nearly two decades of experience working in a variety of lighting design and education roles. She began her career working as a commercial lighting designer. She served as the western regional Market Development Manager with Peerless Lighting and worked for several years as a Portland based manufacturer’s representative, consulting with architects and engineers on lighting design projects, educating on new technologies and application opportunities. Barb leads NBI’s involvement in lighting: developing informational products and communication initiatives, consulting with sponsor organizations on outreach for commercial programs and expanding strategic initiatives to move advanced lighting practices and products into the market. She manages the Advanced Lighting Guidelines online resource (ALG Online) and supports work on the Office of the Future program. She has bachelor degrees in Marketing and Interior Architecture, and earned a Master of Science in Lighting from the Lighting Research Center of Rensselear Polytechnic Institute
